Statistics of lymphoma
In France, according to the statistics, the lymphoma is the 6th most common cancer. It represents 3.6% of all cancers with 18,000 new cases each year (with 4,000 deaths a year).
Prognosis of lymphoma
In more than 80% of the cases, lymphomas are of type B (so much more rarely of type T). Worldwide, there have been (in 2012) 65 950 cases of Hodgkin lymphoma and 385 741 cases of lymphomas not hodgkiniens.
Statistics of lymphoma: the 5th most common cancer
Statistics show that more than two-thirds of the malignant hemopathies are lymphomas. Among them, 85% are not hodgkiniens (NHL) lymphomas and they were 1.5 times as likely as leukemias.
Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma represent the third most common malignant hemopathies location in metropolitan France (4 096 case in 2012) after multiple myeloma and chronic lymphoid leukemia.
Worldwide, the incidence of lymphomas is one that has increased the most in recent years with 13.3 cases for every 100,000 males and 7.8 cases per 100,000 women. Thus, it is estimated that about one million people are now living with lymphoma worldwide. In France, 100,000 people live with or have had lymphoma.

Statistics of the non Hodgkin Lymphoma
This cancer of the lymph nodes affects slightly less women than men, these being however more often victims (60%). However, there is general guidance since Lymphoma of the coat, for example, affects twice as many men than women.
The average age of diagnosis of non hodgkiniens (NHL) lymphomas is 70 years for women, and 64 years for men. These types of lymphomas, and particularly those of high grade (not hodgkiniens aggressive lymphomas), are much more common in children than Hodgkin's disease.
Thus, lymphomas are the first most common cancer in adolescents and young adults.
Child Lymphoma
Statistics of Hodgkin's lymphoma
Only 10% of lymphomas are Hodgkin's disease (Hodgkin's Lymphoma), or 2,500 people (5 people in 100,000). Hodgkiniens (LH) lymphomas are two distinct frequency peaks:
the first seniors of 15 to 40 years;
the second in people with about 60 years (more than 55 years in any case).
Moreover, there are a hundred of cases in children (3rd cause of cancer among them). In this population, half of the lymphomas are lymphomas of stages I or II (localized), 30% are stage III (they are several ganglion areas) and 20% are stage IV (with achievement of the bodies).
Note: these rates are observed in Europe and North America; in the economically weaker countries, the percentages of patients with advanced lymphomas is much more important.
Statistics of lymphomas: a high rate of increase
The incidence of lymphomas not hodgkiniens rose by about 4% per year over time, reflecting notably by:
the ageing of the French population;
the increase of environmental risks.
Causes of lymphoma
In the end, the frequency of the NHL has tripled over the past 20 years.
Lymphomas Hodgkin (LH), meanwhile, saw their average rate increase of 1-2% per year. In women, the LH increased by 57% between 2003 and 2012. However, some forms of lymphoma rose much more strongly.

71% in humans;
88% in women.
Thus, there are annually more more cases of lymphomas even while most of the population don't know what it is. 46% do not know what subtype of lymphoma they suffer are themselves ill.
